When I plan a multigen trip, I love a large full-service resort with a variety of activities, dining, and lodging that appeals to all ages. Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas sets a high bar when it comes to defining a resort. With five hotels, more than 40 dining concepts, 14 pools, a world-class waterpark, more than five miles of beach, the world’s largest open-air marine habitat, and tons of activities, Atlantis delivers a vacation that, quite literally, offers something for every generation.
Due to its size and myriad of activities, Atlantis can seem overwhelming. Here, I break it down by age group so you can see how a trip to Atlantis would fit your family.
SheBuysTravel Tip: Make dining reservations 90 days in advance. This resort is busy and the last thing you want is trying to find a place to eat with hungry kids. So put a date 90 days out on your calendar to book your dining.
Young Kids (Ages 0–8)

Most children this age love aquariums and Atlantis has so many areas to view marine life. The soft white sand on the beach keeps little feet happy while kiddie pools allow shallow water play. Parents will love Atlantis Kids Adventures (AKA) which provides a safe environment for kids to experience while parents have some time alone.
- Why They’ll Love Atlantis – Kids will love all the adventures, such as seeing dolphins up close, floating on the rapids river at Aquaventure, or building sand castles. The Dig aquarium delights with all the sea creatures on display.
- Must-Do Activities – AKA Culinary Adventure, Mermaid Adventures, and Playtime with Dolphins is open to all ages and children under 4 are free
- Dining That Works for Little Ones – Poseidon’s Table, the buffet restaurant, provides a variety of food types so there’s likely something that will please even the pickiest of eaters. Note that kids 5 & under eat free at certain restaurants.
- Where to Stay With Young Kids – Stay at the Harborside Resort with full kitchens and laundry. Villas can accommodate large family groups. The tradeoff for being able to stay together is a longer ride on the free resort shuttle to get to the main resort area.
Tips to Keep Things Smooth
- Stick to a routine: Try to keep nap and meal times consistent with home schedules to avoid meltdowns.
- Use strollers: Bring a stroller or rent one onsite to avoid tiny tired legs.
- Plan breaks: Schedule downtime between pool, beach, or activity time to prevent overstimulation.
- Book kids’ activities in advance: Atlantis Kids Adventures (AKA) fills up quickly—reserve spots ahead.
- Pack water shoes & swim diapers: These are must-haves for splash zones and water play areas.
Tweens and Teens (Ages 9–17)

Tweens and Teens can be a challenge when it comes to vacations, but Atlantis has something for everyone. Plus, it’s a gated resort, so parents can relax a little and allow their older children more freedom to explore.
- Why They’ll Love Atlantis – There are so many things to do for their age group, including their own night club.
- Must-Do Activities – CRUSH, the teen night club, has separate sessions for tweens (from 5-9pm) and teens (from 9:30-midnight). Plus, there’s the Aquaventure waterpark, Lost City Escape Room, and Good Lies mini golf,
- Dining That Works for Picky Eaters – Shark Bites, Shake Shack, Marina Pizza
- Where to Stay With Tweens & Teens – The Reef Residences offers a variety of accommodation sizes and includes kitchenettes or full kitchens.
Tips to Keep Things Cool
- Give them independence: Let older kids explore the resort within boundaries—it makes them feel trusted and empowered.
- Balance adventure and chill: Mix action (like waterslides or snorkeling) with relaxed pool or arcade time.
- Check minimum ages: Some activities like Dolphin Cay or certain slides have age/height restrictions.
- Plan a parent-free meal: Let them eat with siblings or cousins at casual spots like Marina Pizzeria or Shark Bites.
Young Adults (Ages 18–25)

For young adults vacationing with their family, Atlantis provides plenty of multi-gen fun, such as dining at a celebrity restaurant or taking an excursion. But there’s also plenty of fun to be had separately, such as a vibrant nightlife in a country where the minimum age for drinking and gambling is 18, so they can get into Atlantis’ nightclub and casino.
SheBuysTravel Tip: Skip the airport stress — Lyft’s On-Time Pickup Promise guarantees your scheduled ride shows up within 10 minutes of your pickup time. If it doesn’t? You’ll get Lyft Cash. You can schedule up to 90 days in advance and even lock in your rate. Use code SBT25 to save 25% off ONE scheduled ride to the airport.
- Why They’ll Love Atlantis – The vibrant social scene and Atlantis’ slick use of social media targeting young adults builds excitement before they even arrive. The resort provides countless scenes for Instagrammable moments
- Must-Do Activities – Extreme excursions such as swimming with wild pigs, free swim with the dolphins, event calendar with special events
- Dining & Nightlife Highlights – Aura Nightclub, Sea Glass for tapas and martinis, Cocodrilo for Mexican food and margaritas
- Where to Stay With Young Adults – Situated in the heart of the action, The Royal, with its iconic towers connected by a sky bridge provides the perfect setting for adult vacations.
Tips to Make It Memorable
- Let them help plan: Involve them in choosing excursions, dining spots, or nightlife—autonomy is key.
- Consider connecting rooms or suites: Gives everyone space and avoids late-night curfews.
- Schedule solo time: Young adults may want beach time, spa visits, or clubbing without the fam.
- Take advantage of nightlife: Aura Nightclub and the casino are popular with this group—plan transport/safety accordingly.
- Budget for extras: Activities like Escape Room or fine dining aren’t included; give them a budget before you arrive so they can choose how they want to spend the money when they get to Atlantis.
Parents (Ages 30–50)

Planning a multigen trip usually falls to me as the mom, so I love how easy it is to plan an Atlantis vacation. It’s a one-stop shop with lodging, dining, and activities all in one location. The resort appeals to all ages and even moody teens will be excited about the family vacation.
- Why They’ll Love Atlantis – Parents enjoy family activities but can also have some downtime by booking the kids time at Atlantis Kids Adventure, the resort’s childcare option.
- Must-Do Activities – For downtime, head to the spa for a couples massage, relax on the beach with a cocktail, shop at the Crystal Court
- Dining You’ll Actually Enjoy – Splurge on a romantic meal at Cafe Martinique with French classics reimagined with Bahamian ingredients, watch the yachts from Sunset Point while sipping cocktails.
- Where to Stay as a Family – Harborside Resort for villas with more space, The Reef Residences for family-friendly rooms with kitchenettes or kitchens.
Tips to Balance It All
- Create a loose itinerary: Prioritize “must-dos” but leave wiggle room for spontaneity or naps.
- Divide and conquer: Split childcare duties so both parents get solo time or book the kids into the kids’ club so you can have private couples time.
- Book a family suite or villa: More space = less stress, especially with multiple generations.
- Reserve dining ahead: Atlantis restaurants book up fast—secure at least one sit-down meal per day in advance.
- Use the kids’ club: Let Atlantis Kids Adventures entertain the little ones while you hit the spa or beach.
Grandparents (Ages 55+)

Atlantis bustles with activity 24/7 but also has quiet spaces for relaxing. Grandparents can enjoy time with their children and grandchildren and then take a break.
SheBuysTravel Tip: Guests who can’t walk long distances may want to rent a motorized scooter from Cardinal Mobility located on the resort.
- Why They’ll Love Atlantis – Grandparents love enjoying all the activities with the family and then having a peaceful retreat to escape to. All public areas in Atlantis are wheelchair accessible and the resort offers a free shuttle system to navigate the large resort.
- Must-Do Activities– Play a round of golf at the Ocean Club or relax on the beach. For a livelier time get your game on at the Atlantis Casino.
- Dining With Comfort & Style – Try a celebrity restaurant for an upscale dining experience. Nobu brings Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s delectable dishes with influences from Peru and Japan. James Beard award winning Chef Alon Shaya shines at Silan with fresh Bahamian ingredients and a Mediterranean menu.
- Where to Stay With Accessibility in Mind – For a luxurious stay and a peaceful retreat when you need some downtime, check out The Cove. The lavishly appointed adults-only Cove Pool gives a whole new meaning to the word relax.
Tips for a Relaxing Trip
- Pick centrally located accommodations: Stay close to elevators or main resort hubs to minimize walking.
- Look for low-impact activities: Enjoy marine exhibits, guided tours, and beach lounging without strenuous effort.
- Ask for mobility help: Wheelchairs and transport buggies are available—just request ahead of time.
